Business to Business Cannabis Transport Services Now Available Published on August 11th, 2022 by admin

After 10 months of doing business-to-consumer deliveries, the Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission recently approved our second license for business-to-business Cannabis Transport.

So, what’s the Difference Between Cannabis Delivery and Transport Licenses?

In Massachusetts, there are four delivery and/or transport licenses:

  1. Marijuana Courier
  2. Marijuana Delivery operator
  3. 3rd Party transporter
  4. Existing Licensee Transporter

*as well as a delivery endorsement that essentially allows certain licensees to deliver directly from a licensed establishment to consumers.

Delivery licensees (the two main differences)

  • Operators purchase and store wholesale cannabis products in order to sell them via a delivery model. This authorizes operators to act as a retailer without having a traditional bricks-and-mortar location.
  • Couriers, however, are typically hired by retailers as their delivery “partner”. With this model, the retailer takes the order, and the courier delivers, similar to GrubHub or Uber Eats.

One of the main differences from a business standpoint between a delivery and courier license is the lower cost of entry for couriers as couriers don’t have facility, inventory, or storage costs, and will usually have lower operational expenses.

So, what’s the difference between a courier and a transport license?

Transport licensees

Instead of delivering to individuals, transport licensees deliver cannabis products between licensed cannabis facilities, such as a cultivator or manufacturer to a retail dispensary or testing facility.

So as of Thursday, April 28th, 2022 Your Green Package can now conduct Cannabis transport, or as mentioned above can officially conduct those B2B deliveries.

Since then, Your Green Package has conducted a multitude of B2B deliveries.
